Google usually rolls out its latest Android updates to Nexus devices. Recently, the tech giant rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat update to Nexus 6P. Although, the update was not a speedy one as there were issues with device performance and battery. Now, Google is rolling out the Nougat update to its low-end Android One smartphones.

As per a report by GSMarena, a user tipped them with a screenshot of Nougat update notification on his Android One smartphone. It is an irony that some of the major 2015 flagships are still stuck on Marshmallow while low-end Android One smartphones are getting updated to the latest Android version. As per the report, Cherry Mobile G1 is the first Android One smartphone to receive the Nougat update in the first wave. We expect other Android One phones to get the update in a couple of weeks or maybe sooner.

There are a plenty of Android One smartphones in the market from manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn, Intex, Lava, and many more. Given the number of Android One handsets, it is pretty hard to predict the timeline for Nougat update rollout. However, once Google starts the rollout process, it won’t take much time to cover many devices. For all the Android One users, we would like to tell you that this would be a big update (almost 750MB in size) so it would be better to backup your device and install the update on Wi-Fi connection.

Do you use Android One smartphone? If yes, then let us know whenever your device gets the update.
